The 25th Anniversary of the Blue Jay Parade marched under sunny skies until the last listed entry passed the judges stand. The softly falling snowflakes were the final entry.

The parade reflected the warmth and humor of our mountain communities with participation of entries such as: Scott Richardson who wore his specially made Christmas costume while he rode his 1886 Penny-Farthing Hi-Wheel bicycle. We appreciated the Veterans who marched with the American Legion to remind us of the freedoms we enjoy due to the sacrifice of many American service people. Citizen of the Year, Judge Michael Dest who served of community on and off the bench for many years started the procession. Putty Henck, founder of Santa's Village and escorted by Tom Harris was our living reminder of the value of community and family as he represented the History of the mountains. The MPH Coyote Band & Drill Team set a snappy pace as they were followed in step by the Mountain Fife and Drum Corp and the Arrowhead Arts Rim Youth Orchestra. Curves of Lake Arrowhead, honored the tradition of the snow shovel drill team, as the Red Hat Society added color with their vivacious red and purple floats. This year all three Rotary Clubs celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International. Members from Crestline Rotary, Mountain Sunrise Rotary and the Lake Arrowhead Rotary carried signs and worked on the Anniversary "Cake" float in a spirit of unity. Delta Therapy Dogs from Victorville wore their Christmas Best as they pawed down the parade route for the 5th year. West of Broadway and many other participants showed their community spirit with colors and music of the holidays.

Those receiving awards at the Lake Arrowhead Commmunities Chamber of Commerce Christmas luncheon on December 15th will be: Commercial category 1st Place- Curves, 2nd Place-Charter Media, 3rd Place Bill's Villager; Non-Commercial Category 1st Place-Red Hat Society, 2nd Place-Boy Scout Pack#89, 3rd Place was tied with-The Historical Society and the Delta Therapy Dogs; Band Category 1st Place-Mountain Fife & Drum Corps, 2nd Place-Rim High Fighting Scots Band, 3rd Place-Arrowhead Arts Rim Youth Orchestra, 4th Place-MPH Band & Drill Team.
